What Bantams Banter was
Bantams Banter was an independent podcast about Bradford City AFC, made by two lifelong supporters, Tom and Dom. They started out with the Tom & Dom Show on local radio in Bradford and turned it into a weekly club podcast in 2009. Each episode covered the latest results, the mood in the stands and whatever else had happened to City that week, usually with a guest or two.
The timing was lucky. Within a few seasons City went on the 2012–13 League Cup run that took a fourth-tier side to Wembley, and then won the League Two play-off final there three months later. Tom and Dom recorded at both finals, the first independent podcasters to do it. The show regularly reached number one in the iTunes sports chart and averaged around 40,000 downloads an episode.
Where to listen now
The old episodes are still on Apple Podcasts, and the video clips, music videos and match-day films are on the Tom & Dom YouTube channel. The podcast history page has the season-by-season story, the spin-off shows and the press coverage the pair picked up along the way.
The club behind it
Everything on the show came back to City: claret and amber, the Bantams, and Valley Parade in BD8. If you're new to the club, our short guide to Bradford City covers the history the podcast kept coming back to, from the 1911 FA Cup to the 2015 win at Chelsea.
